6 Qs for Gino Verhaegen of Quantum Fantay

My 6Qs series so far has tended to focus on the lead singer or the front man of the band. It is time to remedy this. My questions this time is for the drummer of Quantim Fantay, Gino (Bartolini) Verhaegen.

Who are your musical influences?

Each bandmember has there own influence. You can say that our music is heavily influenced by Ozric Tentacles. Pete listens to a lot of Porcupine tree, Marillion, Ozric and Flower kings stuff, while Jaro tends to listen to more reggea and dub. Dario is the metal and hard-rock guy, while my influences are so many :) and not one genre of music.

What has Quantum Fantay been up to lately?

Pete has been writing some new some songs lately. A few of them are already in pre-production phase.

What’s your favorite song to perform live?

That is a difficult one, because each one has their own vibe, energy or atmosphere, so it’s hard to choose. Let’s say that our openingtrack “The spirit” from our last cd comes close to mind. It directly sets the mood live.

How has your music evolved since you first began playing music together?

In terms of songwriting, technically it has been evolved a lot.Pete always seems to raise the bar higher for the new songs. Which is a good thing, cause it innovates yourself as a musician.

If you could play a concert with a band of your choice, who would it be?

Ozric Tentacles maybe. A shame Pink Floyd actually will never play again … ;)

What’s your favorite board game?

We don’t play board games, but I like to play my old SNES a lot!

I had a chance to see Quantum Fantay live at Summer’s End and I was impressed by their engery and excellent songs.
